Some Histochemical Observations on the Endometrium and the Yolk-sac Placenta of Erinaceus europea
نویسنده
چکیده
T H E placentation of Erinaceus europea has been described by Hubrecht (1889). An account of the development and structure of the avascular and vascular yolksac placentae which are formed in this species has been presented (Morris, 1953). Reichert's membrane is formed in the wall of the yolk-sac and it persists to term. A further study of the yolk-sac placentae, Reichert's membrane, the decidua and the endometrium of Erinaceus, involving the use of several histological and histochemical techniques, is reported herein.

Electron Microscopic Observations on the Placenta of the Cat
During the past several years, cytological, histochemical, and electron microscopic studies have been carried out on the placentas of several different species of mammals. In these studies, particular attention has been paid to the so called placental barrier; that is, the regions of the choriallantoic placenta in which the circulating fetal blood most closely approximates the maternal blood. W...

The only fetal cell membrane exposed to the mother in the mouse yolk sac placenta is the apical membrane of the endodermal epithelial cells. In yolk sac preparations in vitro, this apical membrane was exposed to reagents or cells in the incubation medium. By using several techniques we were not able to detect fetal major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigens in this membrane. Immunoferritin...
متن کاملCalcitropic gene expression suggests a role for the intraplacental yolk sac in maternal-fetal calcium exchange.
The expression of calcitropic genes and proteins was localized within murine placenta during late gestation (the time frame of active calcium transfer) with an analysis of several gene-deletion mouse models by immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization. Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP), the PTH/PTHrP receptor, calcium receptor, calbindin-D(9k), Ca(2+)-ATPase, and vitamin D recept...
متن کاملDifferentiation of Mouse Yolk Sac Cells to Erythroid Cells in The Presence of Erythropoietin
Purpose: Yolk sac hematopoietic stem cells (YS-HSC) have two dominant characteristices: a larger reproductive capacity and the absence of the expression of MHC associated antigens. Therefore, these cells are promising candidates for transplantation, cell therapy and gene manipulation. There are controversial reports on the effects of erythropoietin (EPO) on the differentiation of yolk sac cells...
متن کاملO-37: Yolk Sac Diameter and Embryonic Heart Rate As Prognostic Factors of First Trimester Spontaneous Miscarriage
Background: During the past 20 years a lot of information is achieved about the first trimester of pregnancy through ultrasound and intrauterine fertilization. Many researchers tried to use the symptoms of ultrasound in early pregnancy like measuring the gestational sac and yolk sac of the pregnancy to predict the continuation of pregnancy. Aim of the recent study is to predict the risk of spon...
